Unemployment benefit (paro) calculator Spain: estimate amount and duration
To estimate your unemployment benefit (paro) in Spain, you need two figures: contribution months in the last 6 years (for duration) and your regulatory base (for amount). SEPE uses its own figures. Your estimate may differ from the official calculation.
Quick answer
- Duration: 4 to 24 months depending on contribution months in the last 6 years.
- Amount: 70 percent of your regulatory base for the first 6 months, then 60 percent.
- Regulatory base: average of your last 6 monthly contribution bases.
- Use the calculator below to estimate duration from your contribution months.

What to do first
- Download your work history and count contribution months in the last 6 years.
- Find your last 6 payslips and note the monthly contribution base figure on each.
- Add the 6 figures, divide by 6. This is your approximate regulatory base.
- Check for gaps in contributions: months without contributions reduce your duration.
Documents and evidence
- DNI/NIE/TIE or passport.
- SEPE/INSS decision, application receipt or expediente number.
- Work history report (vida laboral), contribution days, income documents and bank details.
Deadlines and risk
- Contribution gaps reduce the duration. Even 1 missing month drops you one step down.
- Regulatory base uses the last 6 months before unemployment: part-time or sick leave periods lower the amount.
- SEPE uses its own data. Your calculation may differ if there are discrepancies in the records.
- Minimum and maximum unemployment benefit (paro) amounts change annually with the national budget.
- If you worked for two employers simultaneously, periods are not doubled.
